Bekaert, a global market and technology leader in material science of steel wire transformation and coating technologies, has expressed its commitment to further deepening engagement with China, particularly in Shandong province, following its participation in the fifth Qingdao Multinationals Summit held in Qingdao.

In an interview with China Daily, Kurt Van Rysselberge, head of Bekaert China and VP Operations Global Engineering and Operational Excellence, highlighted the summit's significance for understanding Shandong's economic development plans and identifying new business opportunities. He expressed confidence in Bekaert's ability to contribute to Shandong's sustainable, low-carbon, and high-quality development goals through its sustainable products.

Bekaert has a strong presence in China, with 17 sites in seven cities and an accumulated investment of over 1.5 billion euros. In Shandong, the company operates two manufacturing plants, producing high-quality steel cord and wire products that serve a wide range of industries, including automotive, agriculture, and construction.

Rysselberge emphasized Bekaert's commitment to serving the Chinese market and its focus on innovation and technology. The company's research and development center in China enables it to develop products tailored to the specific needs of the local market.

He also summarized his impressions of Shandong with three terms: vitality, vigorous development, and rich history.

Rysselberge said that Bekaert is impressed with Shandong's business environment and its potential for future collaboration. The company is particularly interested in exploring opportunities in sustainable and clean energy, offshore wind power, and other related sectors.
